Lying

People differ in how and when they lie, deceive, or betray others.  Sometimes a company culture can encourage such deception, say by stressing bottom-line thinking at the expense of integrity or by being too unforgiving when errors occur.  Learn how to detect and deal with deception in your workplace and in your life.
This program focuses on when, how, and why people lie, and how to deal with lying and deception in your personal life or in your organization. The program can include experiential exercises, role playing, simulation games, small group discussion, problem solving, experiences on detecting and responding to lies, and more. It also includes a Lie-Q test, so participants can discover how they rate in lying compared to others.  Each program is customized for your group with special handouts and other materials.
Possible topics include:

  • Lying and deception in everyday life
  • Why do people lie or engage in deceit? When? To whom?
  • How do people lie or deceive? What strategies do they use?
  • What signs give lies or deception away?
  • What happens when people discover lies or deception?
  • When is it appropriate to tell a lie or deceive someone?
  • How to deal with lying and deception
  • How to perceive lies
  • How to react to others' lies
  • When and how to lie or deceive yourself (for a good reason!)

The material in this program is based on the book: THE TRUTH ABOUT LYING by Gini Graham Scott.
